Rainbow Games Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland 2024, the highly anticipated multisport event celebrating Hauora, diversity and inclusion, is proud to announce significant updates that will elevate the participant experience and ensure wider accessibility for its inaugural Games in 2024.
Constantly adapting and evaluating the barriers faced by our vibrant rainbow community, the Rainbow Games stands as a catalyst for change. Supported by our partners, the organizing team has a unique opportunity to rescale the dates of the 2024 Games and consequently lower registration fees, making the inaugural games more accessible and inclusive than ever before.
As part of the early bird offer, participants can now register for most sports for only $120 (including booking fees and gst), offering a tremendous opportunity to be a part of this remarkable event. The adjustment of dates only affects a handful of sports, and every effort has been made to minimize any inconvenience caused. All registered participants have been personally contacted to explore alternative options that align with their interests and availability, ensuring their continued participation in the Games.

"We are grateful for the ongoing support from our esteemed partners, allowing for these exciting changes to be made for the inaugural Rainbow Games 2024. The revised schedule and reduced registration fees allow us to create an event that truly embodies the spirit of inclusion," says Tom Leonard, Rainbow Games 2024 Event Director.
Once the early bird rate expires (first 30 registrants and or until the end of October 2023 – whichever comes first), a special student fee will be available at the same reduced price of $120, while the full price sits at $150 for most sports (including gst and booking fees). The tennis event is the only exception, with a $150 early bird rate and $180 at full price.
Registration for the Rainbow Games 2024 includes participation in one sport, player accreditation, a goodie bag, tickets to the opening and closing ceremonies, access to the arts, culture and social hub activities, transport discount options, exclusive discounts to local retail and hospitality outlets, as well as contributing towards the Games’ Rangatahi legacy programme which encourages rainbow youth to get more involved in sports.
The thrilling opening and closing ceremonies promise to deliver a memorable spectacle to captivate participants, spark new friendships and embody the spirit of Manaakitanga and Turangawaewae. Exciting announcements about these ceremonies are set to be revealed from early October, building anticipation for the remarkable moments that lie ahead.
Since its inception, the Rainbow Games has already achieved significant milestones. Notably, it has set the foundations to host New Zealand's first GLTA-sanctioned tournament, New Zealand Rugby’s most inclusive male and female-identifying competition, and partnering with Waterfront Half Marathon, which will see Tamaki Drive adorned with vibrant colours.
