** Turning up late may result in disqualification from the competition. This decision will be at the discretion of the tournament director.

Swimming Schedule

The Rainbow Games aim to provide everyone with a meaningful experience, therefore swimmers will get the chance to participate in at least five distances (selected in your YouLi profile) in a timing slot that matches the self-selected seeded times. The draws will be available on the mornings of the competition.

Categories and Divisions

Swimming at the Rainbow Games uses a traditional Masters format, offering the following categories and divisions:

RACES

  • Freestyle: 50m, 100m, 200m, 800m and 1500m
  • Breaststroke: 50m, 100m and 200m
  • Butterfly: 50m, 100m and 200m
  • Backstroke: 50m, 100m and 200m
  • Individual Medley: 200m and 400m
  • Team Medley: 50m x 4 and 100m x 4

OPEN AND FEMALE-IDENTIFYING DIVISIONS ACROSS THEFOLLOWING AGE GROUPS:

  • 18-29
  • 30-34
  • 35-39
  • 40-44
  • 45-49
  • 50-54
  • 55-59
  • 60-64
  • 65-69
  • 70-74
  • 75-79
  • 80-84
  • 85-89
  • 90-94
  • 95-99

Open refers to all genders and identities

Female-identifying refers to cisgender women, transgender women and non-binary AFAB

In the event of insufficient registrations for any given competition, we reserve the right to merge competitions or to move participants to another competition.

Player Accreditation

As we start preparing for your fabulous player accreditation, we're excited to see your names come to life on them! To ensure everyone feels respected and valued, we will be using preferred names alongside surnames. To make sure we can be accurate and respect your identity, please make sure your preferred name is up to date on your YouLi registration form before Monday 11 March 2024.

Your player accreditation will be your ticket into the Opening Ceremony, Closing Function and will remain a garment to wear with pride as we unite at this multisport event.

Information for Spectators

Do you have friends and family interested in coming to watch you at the Rainbow Games? It’s free to watch, and we recommend spectators registering their interest to spectate here to save time upon arrival.

Please note West Wave Pools charge a compulsory $1 gold coin donation to any spectators watching events at West Wave Pools.

Food and Drink

Food and drink options are available at West Wave Pool.

Equipment

Swimmers must provide their own togs, goggles, swimming cap and towel.

Storage

An allocated area (in the upstairs seating area) will be made available for participant seating only.

Free open lockers are available on site and closed/secured paid lockers are also available at the Pools ($3 per 3 hours)

Late Registrations

There are a limited number of spaces available for Swimming at the Rainbow Games. If you are still interested in participating, please email kiaora@rainbowgames.co.nz. Now that the registration date has passed, entry cannot be guaranteed and enquiries will be managed on a case-by-case basis.
